January is here, guys! In the CrossFit world, that means the Open is about to get started. We’re so excited already! Aren’t you?

How ‘Bout Some Competition?

The 2018 Crossfit Open

As you might already know, every Winter, CrossFit celebrates their first stage of The Games season: the Open. It’s a five-week, five-workout competition that happens in CrossFit affiliates and garage gyms around the world. The workouts are released online each Thursday evening, and athletes have until the following Monday to submit their scores on the games.crossfit.com site. If you want more details about the Open, you can check out this video (It came out for the 2016 Open, but it covers all the main points).

Our Own Flavor

CFJC Intramural Games

Part of our awesome community at the previous Intramural Games

Even though that sounds like enough good news, guess what! That’s not all. (Drumroll, please). This year we will also be celebrating our own CFJC Intramural Games again during the same five weeks (Feb. 22 – March 26) of the Open. If you’ve participated in this before, we’re sure you remember how fun it is to compete on a team and surrounded by your CrossFit community. If you have never competed before, this is a great opportunity for you to start.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Now, we know you might have some questions, and as usual, we have some answers for you. 🙂

Q: Who can compete in the Intramural Games?

A: YOU! All of our athletes.

Q: What if I can’t do the WOD “as Rx?”

A: No worries; all WODs will have a version that every athlete CAN do and earn points for their team.

Q: What if I am “not good enough”? I don’t want to bring my team down!

A: You’ve always been good enough! Every athlete can do one of the versions of the WOD. Give it your best, have fun, and you might just surprise yourself! No one is going to the Games here, so let’s just have some fun with it!

Get Into It

We know it might look intimidating, but there is no reason to be scared. It’s just another WOD (five of them, actually). You’re part of a family now – our CFJC family – and we’ll be right there to cheer you on through each one of those WODs; and just as a family would, we challenge you to challenge yourself. We know you’ve got what it takes; we see your potential. The question is: Do you?

Here are the rules if you want to get into the nitty gritty of it all.

Coaches will be talking about it at the board before classes and passing around the clipboard to SIGN UP!
