Kara Noone

Athlete of the Month

December 2016

Kara was chosen as the member of the month for December because she comes in consistently and works on her weaknesses in order to improve her fitness. She came to us just having completed a half Ironman, with the hopes of becoming a stronger, more-rounded athlete, and to apply those improvements to potential FULL Ironman’s.

Kara successfully completed two full Ironman’s within the last year which is a huge achievement! Kara has recommended CFJC to both her husband and her daughter, who also now train with us regularly. (We take it as the highest compliment when someone recommends us to a friend or family member!)

As I was entering my late 40’s I knew I needed to start doing some form of weight training.  At the same time, my girlfriend joined a CrossFit box in Woodstock and really enjoyed it.  I figured if she could do it, so could I.  Once I made the decision to start doing CrossFit, which box to join was easy.  All the positive online reviews led me to CFJC.

CrossFit makes me stronger, faster, and healthier which keeps me coming back.

Are you ‘f’ing kidding me?!

Walking out the door when people are walking in.

Getting my husband, Gerry, to join.  He was a hard sell.

When you have long femurs you don’t have a favorite lift, just several
least favorites.

I like all the Hero WODs because they typically include both the barbell
and running.  I don’t know the name of my least favorite, but it took
place this past summer and it just about killed me.

Both inside and outside the gym, CFJC has taught me not to underestimate
myself.

Spend time with Miss Pitty Pat, a rescue dog we got in May.

It has made me healthier, which made me more prepared for everything.

Tomorrow was yesterday, so suck it up buttercup and walk in the door.
