Janna Davis

Co-Athlete of the Month

May 2017

Janna has long been representing CFJC on the success story page of our website and has even graced the postcard that we give out to those inquiring about what CrossFit is and what we do… she is literally our poster child. She is extremely consistent and dedicated and has earned a  few spots on our leaderboard for our benchmark workouts from her years of hard work.

She has long had a growing interest in coaching CrossFit athletes. In May she will attend her Level 1 CrossFit certification and has already started helping out in classes. Look for Janna to continue to leave her mark on the leaderboards as an athlete but also in our community as an upcoming Coach.

I could never stay motivated in the “globo gym” environment; it was boring and monotonous to me.  CrossFit seemed to be just the opposite of that.  I was definitely intimidated, but I am so thankful I took that step.  I love the camaraderie and feeling of accomplishment after a great WOD.  It has become an addiction.  For this one hour, I can forget about everything else going on in my life.

Wow, that was actually fun!  I was instantly hooked.

It’s FUN!  You never get bored as the movements, skills and lifts are always changing.  Every day presents a new challenge.

Getting my first legless rope climb!  Also, competing in my first CrossFit competition with Girls Gone WOD.

My favorite movement is burpees (yes, I said burpees!) and my favorite lift is the Clean.

My least favorite movement…..wall balls.  Definitely, wall balls.

My favorite WOD is Helen.  Least favorite….can you guess?  KAREN! (Karen is 150 Wall Balls for time.)

I am currently striving to increase strength and hit new PR’s for all barbell movements, Olympic and Powerlifting.  I would also like to get a muscle up and butterfly pull-ups.

CFJC has actually made me want to work out!  I look forward to it every day.  I am able to stay motivated and work on lifts that I never would have attempted by myself.  My strength and endurance has improved dramatically, as well as my overall health.  I have learned what proper nutrition is and how to fuel my body.

I have also gained a family of lifelong friends that I am so thankful to have in my life.  CrossFit Johns Creek has become my family.  The community, support and camaraderie you feel at CFJC keeps you coming back day after day.

Spending time with family and friends and being outdoors hiking, hunting or shooting.

I have learned that I am capable of much more than I think I am.  CrossFit has taught me to push through those mental and physical barriers.
