Maria Ramos
Athlete of the Month
March 2019
Maria Ramos is our Athlete of the Month for March ’19! Maria has been training with us since October of 2014. During that time she has really made huge strides in her fitness! When she started she could not run 200 meters without stopping; she recently ran a half marathon. She also competed in her first powerlifting meet last year as well and can pick up over 200 lbs. Being able to both lift weights and run makes her a well-rounded athlete, which is what we strive for in CrossFit.
Maria has a great attitude, scales her movements and weights appropriately, listens to the coaches, and comes in consistently to get it done. These qualities make for an athlete that can continue to progress. We are proud of Maria and how she is able to apply her fitness earned in the gym to anything she wants to get done outside of the gym!
Maria Ramos, 39. Wife and mom of 4. Homeschooler. I also work from home doing finance for a non profit organization.
After my 4th child and diagnosis of my 3rd child with autism. I was in a very bad place emotionally. I thought regular exercise would help me get to a better place emotionally and physically.
Wow. What did I just do?!? It was incredible how challenging it was and how much I wanted to feel that way. I wanted those daily triumphs over challenges.
I love getting stronger and I love how this community encourages each other.
My proudest moment would have to be my first PR deadlift on a Halloween. I couldn’t believe I was able to do something I thought impossible for someone like me.
Favorite Lift: Deadlift and Bench
Least Favorite: Snatch and Jerks
Favorite WOD: all of them!
Least: none of them. Even if they are really grinding. It feels so great afterward.
Goals: to get stronger and healthier.
I’m getting there everyday I wake up and show up.
Completely saved me. It became a healthy outlet to save me from the stress of life. I am happier and healthier than ever.
My favorite thing to do is go to the beach.
CrossFit helps in the little things like being able to move furniture. It helps in the big things like knowing I can live my best life and be healthy and strong for my children.
Never place limits to what you can do.
Never feel like it’s only for certain types of people. It’s for anyone and everyone.
I just want to thank all the wonderful coaches for giving their time and energy to help us all be come the best version of ourselves!
