Urmi grew up in India and was very active in extra curricular activities . She won awards in dance, poetry and literary competitions and was actively involved in Student council activities in college. She also played Volley Ball and Table tennis in college and won several competitions. She took a break from competing and graduated with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences. She moved to Chicago after her PhD and then to Canada to further her career as a scientist.
She always led an active lifestyle until the birth of her children which led to some health issues and was unable to do things she loved to do. She joined a Crossfit Gym in 2016 to gain her health and confidence back and hasn’t looked back since then.
In 2017, she moved to Atlanta and joined Crossfit Johns Creek and first attended a class focused on using Kettlebells as a fitness tool and also learned about KB sport. She participated for the first time in a KB completion hosted by Crossfit Johns Creek in 2017 and won her first Bronze medal in BOLT Iron Man KB World Championship. She became very passionate about KB sport and has won numerous championships at National and International Level. She is part of IKMF Team USA since 2021 and has participated at International level with her team and has won 8 World Championship titles in different disciplines with a Master of World Class rank which is the highest rank achievable. In March 2024, she set a National and World record in One Arm Jerk Kettlebell Supermarathon where she lifted non stop for 2 hours.
She decided to get her Kettlebell coaching certification in 2019 as and Advanced Kettlebell Coach to share her passion for Kettlebells. She loves teaching members how to use safely use this tool to generate power, strength and endurance with her low impact workouts. She also KB flows and uses them to teach members to gain spatial awareness , work different muscle groups , move in different planes all the while creating new neural pathways.
