Chris Kyle was born in Odessa, TX on April 8th, 1974,  and after a youth spent shooting and bronco riding, he joined the United States Navy in 1999. Kyle served over four tours of duty with SEAL Team 3, Sniper Element Charlie platoon, and was involved in every major battle of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kyle became the most lethal sniper in American Military history, with 160 confirmed kills. His deadly accuracy earned him the nickname of “The Devil of Ramadi,” coined by the insurgents that continuously raised the bounty on his head. Kyle’s ability as a sniper saved many American and civilian lives and included taking down an insurgent with a rocket launcher near a U.S. Army convoy at an incredible range of 2100 yards. During his war time service, Kyle survived being shot twice and being caught up in six separate IED explosions.

Kyle left the Navy in 2009 and settled in Midlothian, TX with his wife Taya and their two children. He ran Craft International, providing military, law enforcement and civilian training as well as private security and protection. He released New York Times best-selling autobiography American Sniper in 2012. Kyle also worked with FITCO Cares Foundation, a non-profit organization that created the Heroes Project to provide free home fitness equipment, individualized training programs, personal training and life coaching to disabled veterans, Gold Star families or those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Kyle also devoted much of his personal time helping disturbed and disabled veterans.

Chris Kyle was killed by gunshot on Saturday, February 2nd at a shooting range in Erath County, TX, reportedly by a veteran that Kyle had brought to the range to help deal with post-traumatic stress disorder. Also killed was Kyle’s friend, Mr. Chad Littlefield. Chris Kyle was 38.
